The heart throbs of Telugu movie music lovers, Ghantasala, Susheela and Rajeswar Rao were born and brought up in Vizianagaram only. Famous writers Gurajada, Gidugu and Aarudra were born in Vizianagaram.
Hari Katha Pitamaha Adibhatla Narayan Das and the creator of the ballad ‘A fisherman on his job’ – (Andhra Jalari) Sampat Kumar hails from Vizanagaram. Tandra Papa Rayudu of Bobbile famous for the self respect and valor of the region and a King who donated his entire wealth in the interest of common people – PVG Raju were the sons of this soil only. Virtuoso of violin, Dwaram Venkata Swamy Naidu and contemporary music directors Vidyasagar, Koti and RP Patnaik are from Vizanagaram.
RVS Peri Sastry who held the position of Chief Election Commissioner of India was born in this district. Peddi Laxminarayana Murty was awarded as man of the year 2003 by American Biographical Institution. Chaganti Somayajulu known as Chaso, a famous Storywriter and Nishtala Venkata Suryanarayana Shastri who has written a Comprehensive Treatise on the Sacred Sri Madbhagavadgita also hails from Vizianagaram..
